There is no further machine or hand stitching required. The contrasting borders are applied during the embroidery process.

The mug rug also comes with a printable, coordinating tag (in pdf format). The tag explains what a mug rug is and how to wash it. There are two stitch files - one with the cat motif and one without for you to insert a design of your own choosing.
