Simple and easy holiday project with each piece made entirely in the hoop.
The trim is added to the panel using the sew 'n' flip technique. The striped pattern is then embroidered onto the trim to give it that delightful striped effect. The white section of the box panel is embroidered with snowflakes, finishing the Christmas theme of the box. The base of the box is also embroidered with a snowflake.
The Christmas ornaments that decorate the boxes are made in the hoop. The tartan fabric is appliqued onto the ornaments. A feather cover stitch is used for the raw edges. This stitch was used specifically to give it a more traditional and homemade feel. If you use a loose weave fabric, you might have a few stray threads poking through. Fleece is used to back the ornaments. I preferred to use the fleece as it has a natural stretch and makes turning the ornaments easier. The hanging loops are added after the ornaments are completed. These ornaments can also be used to decorate a Christmas wreath or a Christmas Tree.
To finish off the boxes, a craft peg is used to attach the ornaments to the boxes.
Some hand sewing (or fabric glue) is required to finish this project.
