Download & Install Embird

Note: Before you start installing Embird, make sure you know whether you need the 32-bit or 64-bit version. The version needs to match your computer’s operating system. To find out which system you have, go to Control Panel/System and Security/System and look for System Type. We also have a free video tutorial that shows you how to find out your system type available from here.

1 – Turn off your User Account Control by going to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety > User Accounts > Change User Account Control Settings and set the slider to Never Notify. Click OK. You can change this back once the installation is complete. We have a more detailed description of this here.

2 – If you have an older version or build of Embird installed, uninstall it by going to Start > Programs >Embird 32/64 > Uninstall. If not, skip steps 3 and 4, and proceed from 5.

3 – When asked if you want to delete the folder with settings of Embird, click “Yes”.

4 – Restart your computer.

5 – Download Embird – choosing either 32-bit or 64-bit to match your computer’s operating system. Click on Save and save the installation file to your desktop. The name of the file should end in .exe

12 – Fill in your name, address and email address (all the required fields). You don’t need to enter your registration password at this stage. Click “Next”.

19 – Click OK for the Calibration Square.

20 – In the Iconizer Settings window, click both the Select All buttons. Click on Remove Image Type Files and Remove Quilting Type Files. Click OK.

1 – On the Manager page, in the right panel, choose your preferred display view for design files by ticking the Preview Files check boxes.

2 – Embird will run in trial mode until registered. In demo mode, you can use the program for 30 days. After this, in order to change the program into a fully enabled version that doesn’t expire, a registration password needs to be purchased and entered.

3 – If Embird is showing as un- registered, and you are a registered user, enter your registration password now.

2 – Go to Help/Passwords and un-tick “Remind me need for password back-up every 30 days”, so you don’t see this every time you close Embird.

Do make sure you have your passwords backed up to both your C: drive as well as an external device like a CD or USB stick. You can back-up your passwords from this window.

4 – If you are registered for Alphabets, Digitizing Tools or Sfumato Stitch, these will need to be downloaded in addition to the basic Embird.
