Slavani Time The Slavani Time designs and stories are dedicated to the memory of Miems' father, Jan Hendrik Van Wyk, who told his children Slavani stories every night before they went to bed. Slavani, the little boy in the stories, became part of their lives as they grew up. Jan used Slavani to develop their life skills and teach them about nature. In time, he also told the stories to his grandchildren. Slavani and his friends, mostly lovable wild animals, are all from Africa. Slavani was the name of a black friend from Miems father's childhood whom he respected a lot and in honor to him Jan used his name in the Slavani stories. The black people in Miems' hometown in South Africa adore Slavani and feel proud that Miems' father used him in his stories.
